Breaking through Silence

You see her,
You see the smile,
The laughter and the beauty,
But I see the pain,
I see the pain she is hiding because she is too afraid to speak.
Because fear and fear of embarrassment stays at a corner in her heart,
Silence remains at the door of her mouth,
Whispering in her ears,
and becomes shadow in her own steps.
So many questions on her mouth that refuse to pass her lips
The pain grows bigger and bigger,
but silence and fear refuse to let out of her way.
So, I wonder
When will the silence end?
Tell me, why do we speak about the heart that beats,
Yet, whisper about the curve of a womanhood.
Tell me, when did our pain become an embarrassment?
Why do we invite so many illness in our conversation without hesitation,
Yet when her illness enters the conversation,
Suddenly, everybody loses their voice?
So today,
I stand not just wearing a pink ribbon on my cloth,
but keeping it deep down my heart,
not just as the colour of today or October,
but as a companion throughout my life.
My sister,
Whenever your body speaks in changes,
do not let fear silence your question.
Know your body,
be aware of any change.
New Lumps, change in shape or size,
Pain, swelling or nipple discharge,
All are red flags
But not every change carries cancer's name
Let your doctor help you understand.
Ki san kanki, ki kula da kanki, ki kai kanki, when ever kikaji akwai matsala a kanki,
Consult your doctor,
he might be your protector,
Know that, illness is never the end of the story,
Have hope, we carry hope today and will carry it forever,
Together we give hope to ourselves.
