LET'S HEAL, BABY
by Blessing Arinola
You know that anger isn't normal, right?
You gave excuses for it, you said that's how you were wired.
But everyone left you, you really feel tired.
You wish you were not like that.
You want people around, but no one is with you right now.
It is time, let's heal, baby!
The place you vowed never to go,
Not because you want to take things slow,
But because you are not sure how things will go.
You can trace the pain, where it came from, you know.
What keeps you quiet and makes your voice very low,
Those words that were spoken that affected the flow,
The abuse that screamed, "Don't let anyone know!"
It is time, let's heal, baby!
Why are you trying so hard to be seen?
Is it because of the pain that you feel?
They told you, you will never amount to anything.
You want to prove them wrong, but you are tired of everything.
Your gentleness, you know it's beyond "it's my personality."
You do things for everyone, you know it's caused by something.
You want everyone's attention, that's how you get your validation.
It is time, let's heal, baby!
You think everyone is right except you.
You were the victim but you still blame you.
Even though you contributed to the trouble,
That doesn't mean you deserve the pain, even though you fumble.
Pain has written a chapter, let grace write the rest of the story.
It is time, let's heal, baby.
The conversation you dread having,
That talk that doesn't make you happy,
The lonely path you are scared to walk in,
That NO you feel uncomfortable saying,
That foundation you are not sure you want to revisit,
The question you are afraid of asking,
That is where your healing lies.
It is time, let's heal, baby.
