An Impact for life

When I decided to write this, the first thing that popped into my head was Burna Boy’s L.I.F.E. album—Leaving an Impact for Eternity. ​He said he did it. ​I wrote something earlier today about aiming to become the greatest yourself rather than just trying to copy someone who is already great. But regardless, true greatness is more than just a personal milestone; it’s something you have to train your generation to step into. ​Come with me for a second: remember how people look at the wild, wayward child of a preacher and say, "And to think his father is a pastor oooo!" ​That’s exactly how real greatness works. The moment you attain it, any little mistake gets tied back to your lineage: "Oh, his great-grandfather was this and that," or "Her mother was so-and-so." ​Greatness doesn’t stop with you. It lingers, it continues, and it spreads. The best thing you can do is make it count by teaching the next generation to make it count too. That doesn't mean there won't be times they go astray, but regardless: instill greatness in your children so they can instill it in theirs, turning it into an endless cycle. ​That is true greatness. That is an impact that will actually be felt. That is real joy. ​
