My Version of Freedom
Do you know what freedom means to me? It's dancing in the rain and not having a care in the world. Loving loudly, living boldly, and speaking fearlessly. It's being able to walk down the road at half past midnight, staring at the late-night sky. Freedom is sitting at the edge of a cliff, admiring the sunrise. Blasting music, switching between Odumodu Blvck, Taylor Swift, and Uncle Waffles, with my hands swinging high above my head and my hips moving too. It's experimenting with colours in my wardrobe. Hosting a fashion show within the walls of my room, with the mirror as my biggest supporter. Updating my Instagram account with pictures and videos regardless of the time–birds, trees, danfo buses, newspapers, akara, and army checkpoints. Freedom is the late-night talks and giggles with my latest read of the moment. It's going from a reading spree to a two weeks quarantine from books. Singing high notes, octaves, and terrible tunes with all my heart and lungs, wearing the weirdest, brightest smile you'll ever see. Ugly crying without any regard for my dripping mascara, that is freedom. Freedom is free. Freedom is being the most you you'll ever be.
