In this piece i was thinking about the relationship between the body and the spirit, but I started wondering: what if the spirit follows the body too?
A lot of spiritual and religious ideas tend to place the spirit above the body. The spirit is seen as the higher part of us, and the body is something that follows it. And I understand that idea, but I became more interested in what happens when you look at that relationship in the opposite direction.
The body feels pain, pleasure, fear, hunger, grief… and the spirit has to respond. Then the spirit affects the body right back. So maybe neither one is really leading. Maybe they’re both just following each other.
