The Race Beyond Man

The Race Beyond Man Acrylic on Flex Banner 16 x 20 2025 Do you see him? He isn't just a man running anymore. Look at the crowd along the fence: some are gasping, some are smiling, some can't decide how they feel. That's the part I care about most. I painted this piece about the moment you outgrow the space people made for you. It's thrilling and a little frightening, and not everyone cheers at first. The centaur gave me a way to show that change, half man, half horse, he charges down a fenced track under a molten yellow sky while a crowd watches. The Race Beyond Man is about the moment a person outgrows the limits others have set for them, and the mix of awe and unease that follows, and that to perform extraordinarily, one needs to subscribe to a form greater than man. So tell me, do you stopped running to be understood and started running to arrive?
