Does Self-Belief Really Matter?
Does Self-Belief Really Matter? By Obie Jeremiah Oghenetega. Ladies and gentlemen, Determination, faith, and hard work are key factors in achieving success but there is one force that powers them all: self-belief. Self-belief is more than just confidence. It is the fuel that keeps your mind focused, your spirit strong, and your resolve unshaken. It is what helps you restart when life knocks you down and refuse to quit. I strongly believe that everything we are meant to achieve begins from within. A determined soul does not give up, no matter the obstacles standing in the way. Let me share a principle from Isaac Newton: “An object at rest stays at rest, and an object in motion stays in motion unless acted upon by an external force.” Think about that for a moment. You cannot expect to rise by simply wishing for it. You cannot soar by just thinking about success. There must be an internal force a drive that pushes you into motion. And that drive begins with two simple but powerful questions: Why am I doing this? How can I do this? Just like in economics we deal with questions like; What to produce? How to produce? For whom to produce? This is where ideas are born, where plans are made, and where action begins. My interpretation of this law is simple: Without internal drive, we remain stagnant, confused, stuck, and going nowhere. But once that inner force is activated, even the strongest external obstacles struggle to stop us. When your mind is clear, your goal is defined, and your determination is firm, resistance becomes weaker. Now let me ask you a question: How willing are you to succeed? Because the truth is that many people want success, but not everyone is willing to fight for it. In life, external forces will come: lack of resources, daily struggles, unexpected setbacks. But a strong internal system, a focused mind, and a determined spirit is not easily broken. Just like the body falls sick when the immune system fails, your dreams collapse when your inner drive weakens. A Real-Life Story There was a young boy who dreamed of becoming a pharmacist. Along the way, life happened, he broke his leg and couldn’t continue on that path. For many, that would have been the end. But not for him. He switched to the arts. At first, it was difficult. He struggled. But he made a decision to improve, to grow, to succeed. Step by step, he worked on himself. He learned how to balance his studies with his daily life. He discovered his strengths. Today, he is still building his name stronger, wiser, and more prepared for challenges. Yet, many people do not know the battles he fought in the beginning. And here’s the beautiful part: When you taste success, you become hungry for more. And when that hunger grows, you begin to break limits. And with each new success, past failures begin to lose their power. Conclusion Nothing is impossible but everything starts with the right mindset. Be determined. Work hard. When you fail, learn, adjust, and keep moving. Never give up. Because in the end, success is not just about talent or opportunity it is about the strength within you to keep going.
