Let's talk about the flickering mind

I'm washing the dishes. ‎Some background music plays from my phone, nothing new, just sound to fill the space. ‎Then it happens. A line from the song catches me. Registers. ‎And suddenly, I feel it. ‎The flicker. ‎Words

I'm washing the dishes. ‎Some background music plays from my phone, nothing new, just sound to fill the space. ‎Then it happens. A line from the song catches me. Registers. ‎And suddenly, I feel it. ‎The flicker. ‎Words start to form in my mind, one after the other, weaving themselves into meaning. ‎Not just words, but images. ‎They paint themselves across the walls, the tiles, the running water. ‎I can hear them, I can almost taste them so vivid, so real. ‎A poem is being born, right there in my head. ‎ ‎I reach for my phone to write it down. ‎But the moment my fingers touch the screen, ‎It vanishes. ‎ ‎The image blurs. ‎The voice goes quiet. ‎The lines unravel like thread slipping through water. ‎Gone. ‎ ‎I'm left standing in the kitchen, soaked hands, dish in midair, ‎staring at nothing, stunned. ‎How fast it disappears. ‎How complete the silence becomes. ‎ ‎I try to remember. I try to recall even one line, one word. ‎But it’s like waking from a dream you know something was there, ‎but the harder you reach for it, ‎the further it fades. ‎that's how fast my mind flickers through my thoughts.
