Almost lovers

Almost Lovers I sometimes wonder if you ever think of us what we might have been if we were both ready. I try to drift away from these thoughts but on rainy nights and quiet days, it's almost impossible. I try to name what we were. We were more than friends, but never quite lovers. So I guess we were almost. Do you ever regret us? a voice inside me asks because I never could. If you don't, why didn't you try harder? Because I did. I tried so we could be more than almost but maybe that was just wishful thinking. I knew choosing you meant losing everyone else, and I wasn't sure you were worth it. We weren't wrong for each other, I whispered that night. "Then what were we?" you asked. I didn't hesitate When I said "Almost".
